If you are a cricket fan and even use Facebook regularly, now you have to spend more time on Facebook. The social networking site Facebook has entered into an agreement with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to disseminate World Cup-related content through Facebook.

According to Facebook, the agreement was reached only on Thursday. The ICC has a four-year contract for an exclusive digital partner. In addition, by 2023, Facebook will cover world-class ICC competitions in countries of the Indian subcontinent, including Nepal. The financial side of the four-year agreement has not been disclosed.

As per the agreement, Facebook will not broadcast the games live in any market. “We will be able to provide more effective service to millions of cricket fans through this unparalleled agreement,” Facebook said. According to Facebook, the agreement provides additional service opportunities for sports fans on Facebook as well as Instagram and WhatsApp.

It is also expected to help create new followers in world cricket. As per the agreement, Facebook will show the post-match recap and important moments during the game through Facebook. In addition, feature content of the games will be shown in the Indian subcontinent. The company will also be able to show post match recaps. This will include men’s and women’s T20 cricket tournaments, 50-over World Cup games, World Test Championship 2023 and other games.

Earlier in 2017, Facebook had tried to get the online streaming rights of the five-year IPL for करोड 600 million. Facebook could not succeed in that. At that time, Facebook had lost to Star India. Star India which has been operating Hotstar. Star India bought the ICC’s digital and television broadcasting rights for 944 million. He has taken the right to broadcast every game of the Indian team worldwide.

However, Facebook has been broadcasting every game of Spanish La Liga in football live through Facebook. That too is limited to the Indian subcontinent. According to the ICC, 4.6 billion video views were made on the ICC’s digital and social media platforms during the recently concluded ICC World Cup.
