Where Is Khotang? Places To Visit In Khotang District Of Nepal

Khotang is one of the hilly districts in the eastern region of Nepal. Khotang, also known as Kirant, is a remote district in terms of transportation and lagging behind in terms of infrastructure development. Diktel Bazaar is the district headquarters of Khotang district, which is surrounded by natural and historical boundaries like Tamke, Maiyu, Merungdanda in the east and hilly slopes in the west. Khotang, rich in Khayar, Sal and other valuable forest resources towards the southern part of the district, is richly endowed with natural resources, tools and beauty. Not only this, the valleys formed by Sunkoshi and Rawa are even more valuable.

During the Rana period, the case court of Majhuwa Thum, Amchok Thum, Khotang Thum, Chuluwar Thum, Sawa Thum, Diplung Thum, Chuichumma Thum and Ratanchha Thum was established by the area court in Khotang Bazaar to register land in this area. After the establishment of Tribhuvan Village Development in Khotang in 2013 BS after the rise of democracy in 2007 BS, the administration of development of the people of Mazhuwa Thum, Khamtel Thum, Haleshi Thum and Rawa Thum was also looked after from Khotang Bazaar. But the administrative authority was shifted from Sapsu Khola to Siktel on the east side, including Goswarawat No. 4, east of Nine Thum and Goshwara No. 3, east of Char Thum, including Mazhuwa. After that, Okhaldhunga area court divided it into Mazhuwa, Khamtel, The administration of justice of the people of Haleshi and Rawa Thum has been arranged by the Aiselukharka area court.

Apart from the administrative and judicial functions of the two separate districts, the development administration and peace and security were carried out by three police offices. Amchok and Siktel Thum Bhojpur will be seen by Khotang Bazaar when the constitution of Nepal is announced in 2019 BS with the beginning of Panchayat rule in 2017 BS. The district was divided into Khotang districts with Solukhumbu and the rest as Khotang districts, and Diktel was named the district headquarters of Khotang district. The work of looking after the district panchayat and education administration in Khotang Bazaar was shifted to Diktel in the year 2020 BS. In 2022, the then government decided to move the Khotang court to Diktel and the Aiselukharka court to Solu Salleri.

Subsequently, other offices have been established in the district headquarters Diktel. The Constitution of Nepal (Third Amendment-2032) re-aligned the boundaries of Khotang district, according to which Bopung, Bhanjyangkhark, Kahule of Bhojpur district and Wakachol, Para, Jaleshwari, Maheshwari, Dharapani, Dumre, Duve, Makpa, Wangdel, Rakhavadel, Aiselukhark, Including 15 village panchayats merged in Khotang district, the current area and boundaries have been established. So far, the same border has been maintained. Bhanjyangkharka, Kahule and Wakachol, Para, Jaleshwari, Maheshwari, Dharapani, Dumre, Duve, Makpa, Wangdel, Rakhavadel, Aiselukharka, Dipsung and 15 other villages of Solu district have been merged into Panchayat Khotang district. So far, the same border has been maintained. Rai, Chhetri, Brahman, Newar, Tamang, Sherpa, Magar, Kami, Damai, Sarki and other castes live in this district. Different castes have their own kind of religion, culture, language and customs.
