A new academic session has started in the school soon. Students are rising to the next class. Even young children are ready to go to school to learn Khakhra. Parents are looking for the right school for their children. In fact, these schools are the resource centers for producing manpower in every field that the society of tomorrow needs. Every parent wants their children to get a quality education. But, have our schools been able to provide such practical, vocational, skill-based education?

Quality teaching in schools is still a challenge, mainly due to the traditional style of teaching. Even though we are talking about education in the 21st century, our schools are producing 18th century manpower.

Now the school should be able to provide practical, vital and vocational education. Students cannot be overwhelmed by textbook knowledge alone. Existing textbooks are not sufficient for the psychological and intellectual development of the student. Therefore, the school should now be able to become a smart learning center.

It must be accepted. If we do not rise above the traditional teaching style mentality, this result will be repeated for many more years to come. The tendency of teachers to give one-on-one speeches and lectures and students to memorize the contents of the book and put it to the test does not uplift the education sector of the country. 

Therefore, it has become essential to make school education quality and result oriented. Information and communication technology can be an important tool for this. By making the best use of it, the learning and teaching process of the school can be made modern, practical and up-to-date. It is not that some schools have not practiced smart teaching. Government efforts have also emphasized the use of technology in the teaching and learning process. However, most schools lack the infrastructure and manpower to use technology. There is a lack of willpower beyond that. 

Teachers who have been teaching in the same way for years are not trying to come up with new technology. Smart education is not possible without smart teachers. It doesn’t make students smart either. Currently, the school curriculum is also coming in digital format. Both teachers and students can take advantage of digital textbooks that combine letters, pictures, colors and sounds, videos, etc., available online and offline. In addition, student learning processes can be modernized and made more effective by using a variety of software, websites and apps. 

Now the school should be able to provide practical, vital and vocational education. Students cannot be overwhelmed by textbook knowledge alone. There should be proper arrangement of modern ICT lab, e-library, high speed internet, e-learning platform etc. Classrooms should be prepared from digital system. The main thing is that the teacher himself needs to be technology friendly. The state should also bring programs to provide digital infrastructure as the minimum infrastructure in schools. The main thing for this is internet connectivity. It is important to bring programs for easy and convenient internet in schools.
